The nature of our work as a truly multi-disciplinary group means that improving the living standards of local communities and reducing impact on the environment are high on the project agenda when providing a comprehensive range of sustainability services across all our business sectors including provision of Energy Performance Assessments and Certification.

The EU Energy Performance Buildings Directive (EPBD) became effective in January 2006, by which date all EU countries should have absorbed most of it into their national law. The EPBD is legally binding and applies to all buildings in the domestic, commercial and public sectors. Because of it, all buildings are required to have an energy performance certificate (EPC) based on the energy efficiency of the building. Certain provisions of the EPBD came into force immediately. The last date for compliance was 04 January 2009, when the Scottish Executive fully enforced all parts of the Directive.

Lowe is one of the first companies in Scotland to provide an Energy Performance Certification service to the non-domestic commercial and public sectors and is approved by the BRE to issue up to Level 4S Energy Performance Certificates for non-domestic commercial and public sector buildings (which accounts for 95% of the country's existing non-domestic building stock).
